Meet the Midwife
Hi, I’m Ash Johnsdottir, CPM, LDM, BSM—a licensed home birth midwife based in Corvallis and serving families throughout Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, graduating summa cum laude and receiving my program’s Student of the Year award in December 2014. I’ve been licensed since 2015 and have attended more than 165 births, but I still consider it an extraordinary privilege each time a family invites me into this deeply personal part of their lives.
I specialize in supporting first-time mothers. Pregnancy can feel like an entirely new language, and I love giving women the time, information, and steady guidance they need to feel genuinely prepared—not simply reassured. There are no silly questions here, and you never need to arrive already certain that home birth is right for you. Experienced mothers are warmly welcomed too, whether you loved your previous births or are hoping to create a very different experience this time.
My approach combines traditional midwifery and holistic support with thoughtful, modern clinical care. I believe in nutrition, movement, herbs, intuition, appropriate screening, and evidence-based medicine. I’ll explain your options honestly, offer clear recommendations, and respect that decisions about your body and baby ultimately belong to you. My role is to help you feel safe, informed, heard, and fully involved in your care.
Because I keep a small caseload, our prenatal visits are relaxed and unhurried, and you receive care from the same midwife throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and your baby’s first weeks. I’ll get to know you as a whole person—not simply as another patient or due date.

Complete Prenatal Care
Time to ask questions. Space to feel heard. Thorough clinical care from a midwife who knows you. Our appointments combine monitoring your pregnancy with thoughtful preparation for birth and life with your baby. First-time mothers are a particular passion of mine, and whether this is your first baby or your fourth, your care reflects your individual needs.
Home Birth Care
Give birth in the familiarity of your own home with attentive, experienced midwifery care. I offer encouragement, practical support, and careful monitoring of you and your baby, while respecting your privacy and preferences. If a transfer becomes necessary, my support continues at the hospital as the hospital team takes over your clinical care.
Postpartum & Newborn Care
You deserve attentive care after your baby arrives, too. Our follow-up visits include care for your recovery, newborn examinations, breastfeeding support, and time to talk through the physical and emotional changes of early parenthood. You’ll have a familiar midwife to turn to as you heal, get to know your baby, and find your footing.
